4.1 Page 1. Where are you Seeding?

On this page, you can enter the spatial location of your seeding project in several ways:

A. Choose a Default Location - Note: no ALR nor Soils data will be returned

  • Peace River - choose this to only consider species that are indicted for the Peace River region
  • Somewhere in BC - choose this to consider all species in the database

B. Submit a Custom Location - Note: If your seeding site is in the PEace Region, the system will return ALR and Soils information when you input a Custom Location.

  • Upload a Spatial File - to upload a shapefile or kml
  • Enter WKT - Enter WKT into the text area
  • Enter KML - Enter KML into the text area
  • Enter Latitude and Longitude - Enter Longitude and Latitude into the text field seperated by a space: loncoords latcoords
  • Enter a Geomark URL - Enter a Geomark url into the textfield
  • Enter a street address. The following format is recomended, but almost anything valid will work: 123 Some Street, Cityname, BC V#X #X#
  • Draw on a Map - Draw features on the leaflet map.

Try out one of the example location files/methods list below.

  1. test_seeding_project_1_airport.zip - a simple rectangle east of the Fort St John airport, flat slopes, in ALR and in only one soil unit - see map image
  2. test_seeding_project_2_slope.zip - a elongated polygon north of the Fort St John airport, flat slopes, out of the ALR, one (steep!) soil unit - see map image
  3. test_seeding_project_3_2x_soils.zip - a triangle-shaped polygon east of the Fort St John airport, 2 soil units, in AND out of ALR
  4. seeding_project_example_4_20.2ha.kmz - a field east of the Airport see map image
  5. Lat / Long = 56 15 52.33   120 46 31.61 - a point in a field NW of the airport
  6. Street address: try '10105-12A Street, Dawsone Creek V1G 3V7' or just 'V1G 3V7'

Here is an screen-shot of Draw on a Map:

Click `Next`when you are done (and the system parses the location data).
